This 2 years old laptop worked very well. However, from last few months it will overheat and shut down. To make it work, I have to keep it in front of AC. I managed this way for few months.
Last two days, it developed new problem, it will freeze every few minutes and unfreeze by itself. Not able to work, I did following:
1. Re-booted it in safe mode. Checked device drivers, for any error. All were OK. During Safe Mode, it was also freezing.
2. Opend Heat Sink side (top left two screws). Remove the cover over heat sink. Pull out heat sink attached over CPU with 4 screws. Cleaned it where it touches CPU with dry cloth. Screwed it again by tightening opposite screws to ensure it sits properly over CPU. Put the cover back on.
3. Restarted it.
4. It is working perferctly now. Fan is not blowing hot air any more. I do not exactly know what fixed it though. Most likely it was heat sink which was not seated properly.
